Left hip dislocation with septic arthritis

Presentation

Fever, left hip swelling, and redness.

Patient Data

Age: 28 days
Gender: Female

The left hip joint shows a dislocated and some deformity in the unossified femoral head laterally with a beta angle of more than 55° and an alfa angle of less than 60° and there is turbid fluid collection in extended from joint superiorly within gluteal muscle and surrounding soft tissue oedema.

The right hip joint shows the normal alignment of the unossified femoral head with normal alfa and beta angles and normal coverage of the acetabular roof.

Case Discussion

Findings of clinical presentation and ultrasound imaging are mostly septic arthritis of the dislocated left hip joint and abscess collection.

Orthopaedic consultant and aspirated fluid for culture and sensitivity.
