Info

Supernumerary tooth (mesiodens) in the right central maxilla. Its crown is palatal to teeth 11/21, with the roots poorly formed and abutting the root apex of tooth 22 without evidence of extrinsic resorption. The incisive canal cannot be readily delineated from the supernumerary tooth. On the mesial aspect of the mesiodens at approximately the cementoenamel junction is a 2 x 4 mm region of increased dental density (odontoma).

Case Discussion

Odontomas are one of the more common odontogenic tumours. This one is associated with a mesiodens but there appears to be no predilection for these over other locations.
