Presentation
Long-standing left heel pain with no history of trauma.
Patient Data

hyperintense slit of fluid signal involving the plantar fascia at its insertion site, in keeping with partial thickness tear
thickening of the proximal plantar fascia
focal marrow edema within the calcaneal tuberosity
soft tissue edema around the plantar fascia
the foot muscles are unremarkable. The calcaneal tendon is intact.
Pes planus
ni fluid within the ankle joint
Case Discussion
Features of partial thickness tear of the plantar fascia with plantar fasciitis due to probable pes planus and repetitive stress trauma.
One of the differentials to be considered is Baxter neuropathy, but there is no signal abnormality or fatty degeneration of the abductor digiti minimi, the flexor digitorum brevis, and the quadratus plantae muscles.
