Info

Partial full-thickness defect in the lateral part of the quadriceps tendon, located 0.5 cm from the osseotendinous junctional insertion in the patella, with retraction of the proximal part and a gap measuring 1 cm. The mid and medial parts of the tendon are intact.

A hematoma is seen in the suprapatellar bursa, extendeding through the gap into the pre-patellar bursa as hemarthrosis.

Case Discussion

Findings consistent with a partial tear of the quadriceps tendon and hemarthrosis. In extensor mechanism of knee injuries, quadriceps tendon injury is more common than patellar tendon injury.
