Right leg presenting with rupture of the plantaris tendon and medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle at the musculotendinous junction, with high STIR signal fluid deep to medial gastrocnemius and superficial to the soleus.
Case Discussion
“Tennis leg” refers to an acute mid-calf pain, commonly sports-associated injury and usually experienced by middle-aged persons. The mechanism of injury occurs with an extension of the knee and forced dorsiflexion of the ankle.
