Cerebral venous thrombosis

Discussion:

The patient remained stable in the hospital on anticoagulation therapy. Thrombophilia work-up was negative except nonspecific elevation of beta 2 glycoprotein.

Although cerebral venous thrombosis can result in the uncommon venous stroke, it is an important consideration because of its potential morbidity and mortality.

Recently with advanced imaging studies, the reported incidence of cerebral venous thrombosis is likely to increase, and now more cases may be diagnosed not only by neurologist but also by emergency physicians, internists and other specialties.
