Chorionic bump

Discussion:

A "chorionic bump" is an uncommon finding in the first trimester.  Its etiology is uncertain, but it may represent a small hematoma. A failed twin pregnancy has also been suggested as an etiology.

It is unclear if this finding results in developmental problems with the fetus or with complications of the pregnancy. Close interval follow up is prudent. The association with a chorionic bump has an almost double risk of miscarriages.
