If this same entity was 3cm in diameter, what would it then be known as?
Non-ossifying fibroma.
What is a potential complication?
Larger lesions (more common in non-ossifying fibromas) they may weaken the bone and result in a pathological fracture.
Where are these lesions most frequently found?
Typically in the lower limb, particularly the distal femur, and proximal and distal tibia (metaphysis or diametaphyseal region).
Two views of the ankle demonstrate an incidental well circumscribed lucency in the diametaphyseal region of the distal tibia. It has a sharply defined sclerotic border, no periosteal reaction and no matrix mineralisation.
