Beak sign of aortic dissection

Discussion:

Aortic dissection, Stanford type A. Patient went directly for surgery

This case illustrates the "beak sign", a wedge-shaped component of the false lumen. It is a reliable sign in detecting the false lumen of dissection.

In some cases (as with this case), thrombus formation may blunt the "beak".
