What can you do to correct the MRI susceptibility artifact from metal implants?
1. Use 1.5 T insead of 3 T MRI machine. 2. Fast spin echo instead of gradient recall sequences. 3. Increase the receiver bandwidth. 4. Align the longitudinal axis of the metal implant with the axis of the main magnetic field. 5. Use STIR sequence for fat suppression. 6. Increase the field of view. 7. Utilise higher matrix.
Circumferential soft tissue mass lesion surrounding the proximal two-thirds of the humerus which demonstrates intermediate high T2 signal intensity and isointense T1 signal intensity with avid enhancement. The mass is involving all of the arm compartments and abutting the subclavian neurovascular bundle, the imaging features are in keeping with osteosarcoma recurrence. There are multiple suspicious axillary lymph nodes, highly worrisome for lymph node metastasis.
