What does the image show?
The needle has been removed and the hip joint is distended with radiopaque fluid.
What is the volume of arthrogram injectate is given in MRI hip arthrogram injections?
The hip joint is a medium-sized joint. Usually, 10mL to 15mL is injected but it can be less in smaller patients. Distending the hip capsule is uncomfortable therefore care should be taken not to over distend the joint. In anaesthetic arthrogram injections, 4-5mL of injectate is given, as the purpose is to give steroid not distend the hip for image interpretation.
Post-injection image after the needle has been removed which shows the expected appearance, with iodinated contrast filling the hip joint. 10mL of arthrogram injectate was given in total.
