Prolapsed gyrus rectus compressing the optic nerve

Discussion:

On retinal scans, the pattern of ganglion cell loss was compatible with a right optic tract lesion. A follow-up MRI 2 years later showed no change. No pathological cause is seen in this case, which has also been reported in case reports. This is a rare cause of optic neuropathy although this pattern can also be seen in patients without optic neuropathy.
