Pneumomediastinum secondary to foreign body aspiration

Discussion:

Foreign body aspiration is common in pediatric age group and diagnosis may be delayed due to nonspecific clinical symptoms and signs,  unilateral hyperinflation should raise the possibility of foreign body aspiration, and further assessment should be done. Pneumomediastinum secondary to foreign body aspiration is rare in children, it may be localized with a benign course, in some cases it may be fatal. In this case, there was an ulcer on the left main bronchus and the foreign body was removed in two settings.
