Epiglottic cyst

Discussion:

CT features most suggestive of an epiglottic cyst.

On imaging, the main differential diagnosis at this location is a lingual throglossal duct cyst:

  • usually discovered during childhood (90% before the age of 10 years)

  • location suprahyoid at the base of tongue or within posterior floor of mouth

  • associated ectopic thyroid may be seen in up to 40% of cases.
