Crossed cerebellar diaschisis is caused by hypometabolism of the cerebellar hemisphere (hence, volume reduction) due to supratentorial lesions and cortico-ponto-cerebellar pathway interruption.

CT isn't a modality of choice; MRI and functional studies are preferred.
