This case illustrates the whirl sign (the swirling appearance of the mesentery and superior mesenteric vein around the superior mesenteric artery) in a patient with intestinal malrotation. There are no signs of bowel obstruction, though. The whirl sing is usually seen in the context of a midgut volvulus, which is a possible complication of the intestinal malrotation.
