Features consistent with bilateral brachymetatarsia ( congenitally short metatarsus).
This condition arises due to the premature closure of the metatarsal growth plates. It almost exclusively occurs in female patients and also typically affects the 4th metatarsal as in this case. Occasionally it may involve additional metatarsals, in this instance, the left 3rd metatarsal is also affected.
Patients are often pain-free and present for cosmesis.
When presenting with pain, it is usually due to transfer metatarsalgia.
