Enlarged echogenic fetal kidneys can be a cause of worry for parents. There can be several causes for the same. Whenever fetal kidneys are found large and echogenic special attention should be drawn to amniotic fluid volume, other renal tract anomalies, and associated other system anomalies. Isolated enlarged echogenic fetal kidneys with normal AFI carry a much better postpartum prognosis ¹.
