Patient Data

ultrasound

An intracavitary hyperechoic endometrial lesion is noted with tiny cystic changes. It is mildly expanding the upper part of the endometrial cavity. It shows avid internal vascularity on color Doppler with feeding arterial supply through its upper pole. There is minimal rim of fluid separating the lesion from the surrounding endometrium.

The junctional zone is widened measuring 13 mm with increased vascularity, suggestive of diffuse uterine adenomyosis.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound features are highly suggestive of an endometrial polyp and diffuse uterine adenomyosis. The endometrial polyp shows a prominent arterial feeding through its pedicle at its upper pole which is a characteristic sign, known as feeding artery sign.
