Sigmoid volvulus

Discussion:

Sigmoid volvulus occurs when the sigmoid colon twists on its mesentery, the sigmoid mesocolon, and it causes large bowel obstruction.

Current case shows classic features of sigmoid volvulus; Significant dilatation of the sigmoid colon giving the coffee bean sign non scout image, with typical twist of the sigmoid colon around its long axis with two transition points giving a whirl sign appearance.
