Extrachorial placenta

Extrachorial placenta is a rare type of placenta where the chorionic vascular plate is smaller than the villous tissue, which gets uncovered in the periphery.

Extrachorial placentation is seen as a thickening of the chorionic plate without blood vessels. An edematous placenta can present in association.
