The upper subscapular nerve, also known as the short or superior subscapular nerve, arises from the posterior cord of the brachial plexus and supplies the subscapularis muscle.
Gross anatomy
Origin
The upper subscapular nerve branches from the posterior cord of the brachial plexus with fibres arising from the fifth and sixth cervical nerves.
Course
The upper subscapular nerve has a short course from the posterior cord of the brachial plexus to the upper part of the subscapularis muscle.
