Chorioretinal coloboma in left eye and staphyloma in right eye

Discussion:

The case illustrates left eye globe posterior segment coloboma or chorioretinal coloboma but in most cases, the chorioretinal coloboma is bilateral and involves the anterior segment of the eye that is simply called coloboma. The normal anterior-posterior length of the eye globe is up to 22mm but in chorioretinal coloboma is usually more than 26mm. The staphyloma in the posterior temporal side of the right eye globe uveo-scleral layer is also noted. The staphyloma is almost always in the posterior segment of the eye globe and temporal side of the optic disc as in this case.
