Presentation
Swelling in right shoulder for 2 months with mild pain.
Patient Data
A rim-enhancing lobulated cystic lesion with thin internal septation is noted superior to the acromioclavicular joint. The lesion is indenting the superior surface of the deltoid. The lesion measures 3.4 x 3.2 x 3.1 cm.
Marked acromioclavicular arthritis.
Massive rotator cuff tear involving the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons with atrophy of the muscles. There is superior migration of the humeral head with obliteration of acromio-humeral space.
Case Discussion
Acromioclavicular joint cyst is an uncommon complication of a degenerative AC joint disease.
Two types:
Type 1: Without rotator cuff tear
Type 2: Chronic rotator cuff tear with superior migration of the humeral head.
Here is a case of Type 2 Acromioclavicular joint cyst. There is acromioclavicular arthritis, chronic rotator cuff tear, and a cystic mass superior to the acromioclavicular joint
