Info

Subchondral bone marrow edema and hypertrophic changes of the symphysis pubis. Mild feathery high STIR signal involving the proximal fibers of the left adductor longus and brevis muscles at their attachment to the pubic bone.
Case Discussion
MRI findings and clinical presentation are consistent with the diagnosis of athletic pubalgia. Unfortunately, this MRI study was obtained with a standard hip protocol. A tailored MRI protocol including axial oblique fluid sensitive sequences through the symphysis pubis would be beneficial in such cases of groin pain in athletes.
