Displaced fracture of the base of the fifth metacarpal that extends into the carpometacarpal joint.
There is no dislocation or other fracture.
Associated soft tissue swelling over the lateral border of the hand.

The fifth metacarpal base fracture usually occurs as a consequence of notable axial loading force to a flexed hand as noted in clenched fist injuries.
