Presentation
Difficult swallowing, neck pain, inability to move neck in either direction for 3 days.
Patient Data

In the scanogram image, There is thickening of the prevertebral soft tissue, measuring up to 1.4 cm at C2-C3 level.
There is calcification of the longus colli tendon with small amount of prevertebral fluid, measuring 7 mm in maximum AP dimension. There is no rim enhancement of the prevertebral fluid.
Mildly enlarged adenoids and tonsils without critical airway narrowing. No tonsillar/peritonsillar abscess.
There is opacification and rim enhancement of the right maxillary and the right ethmoid sinuses, likely representing acute sinusitis.
Case Discussion
Findings of longus colli calcific tendinitis with prevertebral fluid. No rim enhancement of the prevertebral fluid to suggest abscess.
In one study1, the normal prevertebral soft tissue thickness in adults should not exceed 7 mm at C2-C3 level and 21 mm at C6-C7 level.
