Right nasal obstruction.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female

Narrowing of the right posterior choana which shows medial convergence of its bony walls and a transverse bony septum obstructing its aperture, associated with retained secretions layered within the posterior nasal cavity.

Findings are impressive of right choanal atresia.

Case Discussion

Choanal atresia usually presents in neonates, however, it might present in older age groups as in this case.

Choanal atresia may be bony as in this case or membranous type.
