Congenital anomaly of the atlas: Currarino type A

Mechanical fall. Down's syndrome. Collapse and loss of conciousness. GCS 14.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Incidental finding. Sclerotic contoured defect of the posterior arch of the atlas in keeping with a Currarino type A congenital anomaly.

Case Discussion

Trauma-related facial bone injury. Despite the traumatic origin, the appearance of the C1 defect is not suspicious of bony injury. Incidental finding of Currarino type A congenital anomaly.
