De Quervain tenosynovitis

Presentation

Worsening pain at the radial aspect of the wrist with limitation of movement.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female
X-ray

Plain X-ray was unremarkable. No evidence for acute fracture or dislocation. No cortical irregularity or periosteal reaction. Satisfactory bony alignment. No joint abnormalities.      

Ultrasound

Tenosynovitis of the extensor tendons of the first compartment of the extensor tendons; namely the abductor pollicis longus and the extensor pollicis brevis with thickening of the synovial sheath of both tendons.
