Case Discussion

Extradural haematomas occur in the context of head trauma with 95% ( unlike subdural haematomas ) having an underlying skull fracture.

The collection is lentiform in appearance and when large cause considerable mass effect - this potentially life threatening injury is easily dealt with surgically provided prompt recognition and surgery is instigated.

The volume rendered 3D images of the skull delineate skull vault fractures exquisitly.
