Info

There is a right petrous apex ground-glass matrix, which appears otherwise uncomplicated. This sharply demarcates the right petrous carotid canal; however, there is no encroachment. There is an absence of a right mastoid effusion, excluding a right eustachian tube occlusion.

There is an incidental right staphyloma.

Case Discussion

Incidental finding of a right petrous apex fibrous dysplasia. This appeared uncomplicated at the time of presentation. Should the lesion continue to expand, the right petrous carotid canal and eustachian tube may be compromised.

The staphyloma triggered an ophthalmology assessment due to its incidental finding during an unrelated CT workup.
