Presentation

Known case of polycystic kidney disease with liver cysts on regular follow up. Patient had a large 15cm cyst in the right lobe of liver. She presented with fever and abdominal pain with WBC counts of 40,000 cells per cubic mm.

CT reveals multiple cysts in the kidneys with cysts in the left lobe of liver. The entire right lobe of liver is replaced by a large cyst which shows an air-fluid level.

Case Discussion

This infected cyst was drained laparoscopically - yielded 2L of pus and was subsequently marsupialized.
