Edema centered within the right submandibular space and base of the tongue with adjacent subcutaneous fat stranding has increased substantially with significant mass effect with effacement of the right side of the oropharynx. Nasogastric tube and tracheostomy have been introduced.
Case Discussion
Appearance is consistent with Ludwig angina (submandibular space infection) of odontogenic origin.
