Intense hypermetabolic lesion (SUVmax 6.3) on the fourth finger of the right hand consistent with localization of Merkel cell carcinoma. In addition, ipsilateral axillary adenopathy is demonstrated as three FDG-avid lymph, the largest of which with SUVmax 9.5 and short axis diameter of 2.3 cm.
Case Discussion
Biopsy revealed Merkel cell carcinoma. Many studies have demonstrated the high sensitivity and specificity of F-18-FDG PET-CT in staging Merkel cell carcinoma.
