Neurocysticercosis

Presentation

Headache, dizziness and lack of memory. Patient had no idea where she has been for the last 2 days. Changes in personality according to family members were also reported.

Patient Data

Age: 27
CT

CT images showing multiple cystic lesions, some of them with scolex inside and edema. Just a few of them show calcifications. All of them in the wide spectrum of neurocysticercosis in different stages of the disease.

Case Discussion

Neurocysticercosis is caused by CNS infection with the pork tapeworm Taenia solium. There are four main stages of presentation that can be recognised on imaging, this case shows most the vesicular stage.
