Presentation
Combined first trimester screening.
Patient Data
Age: 36 years
Gender: Female
The expected nuchal translucency (NT) is 1.54 mm (50th percentile) - the measured NT value is 84th percentile for this CRL.
Case Discussion
Increased nuchal translucency (>95th percentile) is indicative of abnormal chromosomes (e.g. aneuploidy) and in the absence of this, it is still associated with increased risk of structural abnormality (e.g. major cardiac defects).
A more accurate risk assessment can be obtained when this measurement is combined with serum markers and maternal age.
