Case Discussion

This case demonstrates an odontoid process fracture that involved the base and extended to the lateral mass of C2, suggesting a type III Anderson and D'Alonzo classification. This type of odontoid fracture is relatively stable if not excessively displaced, and has the best prognosis for healing because of its larger surface area.
