Ovarian fibroma

Cyclic lower abdominal pain of several months duration

Patient Data

Age: 40
Gender: Female

A large well circumscribed, irregular shape left adnexal mass that returns iso signal on T1, low signal on T2 and STIR with avid enhancement on post contrast scan. There is multiple cystic changes within the lesion.

Case Discussion

Ovarian fibroma is a benign connective tissue tumor arising from the ovarian stroma. Its differential diagnosis includes pedunculated subserous fibroid. MRI findings were suggestive of ovarian fibroma and this was followed by excisional biopsy and histopathology which confirmed the diagnosis.
