Presentation

Patient brought to ED by EMS after alleged assault. Obtunded, 1 mm minimally reactive pupils.

Patient Data

Age: 40
Gender: Male
x-ray

Comminuted transverse fracture of left patella with mild posterior subluxation of the tibia relative to the femur. Soft tissue swelling.

Case Discussion

Patient was "beaten up" after stealing a methadone dose and presented obtunded secondary to opiate intoxication with left knee swelling found to be patellar fracture. Patient was seen by orthopedics and admitted to the hospital for further management.
