Curvilinear left paramedian T1 and T2 hyperintense lesion is noted extending over the superior margin of the body and rostrum of corpus callosum following fat signal on all sequences showing blooming on SWAN images suggestive of pericallosal lipoma. There is mild degree of hypoplasia of the rostrum of the corpus callosum.
Case Discussion
Intracranial lipomas are uncommon tumors with the incidence of about 0.1% of the intracranial tumors. They are mostly localized in the pericallosal region. Pericallosal lipomas are grouped according to localization as in anterior and posterior. The anterior group (tubulonodular) is larger than 10 mm with various intracranial malformations including corpus callosum. Whereas the posterior group (curvilinear) is around the splenium, and is smaller & thinner than 10 mm, usually unaccompanied by intracranial abnormalities.
Other sites for intracranial lipomas are cerebellopontine angle, Sylvian cistern, tuber cinerium, pontomesencephalic region and choroid plexus.
