Info

Large volume intraventricular haemorrhage. Blood seen in bilateral frontal and occipital horns of lateral ventricles, body of the right lateral ventricle, third and fourth ventricle. Dilation of the temporal horns of the bilateral lateral ventricles indicating obstructive hydrocephalus.

Case Discussion

This rare case demonstrates primary intraventricular haemorrhage in a previously well young patient who awoke with sudden onset of headache, vomiting and then deteriorating GCS. They were transferred to a neurosurgical facility for insertion of an external ventricular drain. Subsequent investigation with digital subtraction angiography and MRI was undertaken to attempt to identify source of bleed.
