At the site of pain pointed by the patient ( left side of the umbilical region ); there is an ill-defined area of altered echopattern involving left rectus muscle; measuring about 20 x 20 mm. There is a tiny fluid cleft in it. There is no local hypervascularity. There is no intramuscular / rectus sheath collection.
Case Discussion
An elderly lady developed left-sided abdominal pain after a few days of cough. Ultrasound findings favor rectus abdominis muscle strain. The patient was not receiving anti-thrombotic treatment.
