Presentation
Left flank pain, fever for 2 days.
Patient Data

Left kidney shows normal corticomedullary differentiation. There is urothelial thickening in the lower calyces. There is a well-defined parenchymal collection with internal echoes in the lower pole. It measures about 18 x 15 x 13 mm. There is breach in lower polar renal cortex; and local extra-renal parenchymal extension of this collection. There is no calculus, back pressure changes, or solid parenchymal lesion.
Right kidey is normal. Urinary bladder is normal.
Case Discussion
Ultrasound findings suggested renal parenchymal abscess.
CT scan was done later showing similar findings. There was no communication between pelvicalyceal system and abscess (CT scan not uploaded, no copyright).
Abscess aspiration was done by a urologist.
