Info

Abnormal elongated shape of the skull (scaphocephaly) due to premature closure of the sagittal suture (synostosis).

The anterior fontanelle is also closed.

Case Discussion

Scaphocephaly occurs when the sagittal suture closes prematurely, which inhibits lateral skull growth but allows for anteroposterior growth. This leads to a narrow and elongated cranium.
