Case contributed by Sangeet Bhalla
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Vaginal bleeding on-and-off for 1 week. Urine pregnancy test was faintly positive. No abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Gender: Female
ultrasound

A gestational sac is seen along the fundal region of the uterus with peripherally increased vascularity consistent with intra-abdominal/serosal ectopic pregnancy. The fetal pole is seen in the gestational sac with no cardiac activity (images not shown).

Endometrial stripe is identified without any collection, thickening or pseudogestational sac.

Normal ovaries with normal shape size and echotexture. No evidence of any cystic/solid lesion.

Case Discussion

The patient was taken up for elective surgery. Intra-operative findings confirmed the US findings of a serosally implanted gestational sac. Both adnexal regions were normal.
