Presentation

Knee pain.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

There is subchondral linear T1/PD/PD fatsat hypointensity parallel to the overlying cortex. Significant surrounding marrow edema is seen.

Case Discussion

Findings are suggestive of subchondral insufficiency of the medial femoral condyle, previously known as spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK).
