Incidental finding

Patient Data

Age: Elderly

Bilateral subdural collections are seen overlying both cerebral hemispheres with minimal mass effect (although beware of relying on midline shift to assess mass effect when collections are bilateral). The collections follow CSF. A cavum septum pellucidum and vergae is also noted.

Case Discussion

Subdural hygromas can be found incidentally on imaging for other reasons or seen accumulating relatively quickly following a closed head injury.
