Thyroglossal duct cyst

Presentation

Palpable midline neck mass which became apparent after weight loss.

Patient Data

Age: 45
Gender: Female
MRI

Well defined ovoid cystic mass in the visceral space of the suprahyoid neck which ends near the foramen caecum of the tongue base. It has homogenous fluid content and very thin wall.

Neck lymph nodes have normal size and structure.

Surrouding structures seems unremarkable.

Case Discussion

Thyroglossal duct cysts can present as a mass or be an incidental findings. They can present with superinfection, or very rarely become malignant.
