Case Discussion

Thyroglossal duct cysts develop in the remanent of the thyroglossal duct. It can therefore develop anywhere in the line from the foramen cecum at the base of the tongue to the thyroid bed. The commonest site is at the level of the hyoid bone (half) as in this case.
